Q:
Hello, I want to clarify exactly how the audio works on the Android module for Mercedes W176 with Harman Kardon:
When I use Android (apps like YouTube, Spotify, navigation, etc.), the sound is transmitted via AUX or AMI, correct?
When I return to the Mercedes original menu (FM radio, CD, original Bluetooth, USB/PEN, etc.), is the audio still transmitted digitally via fiber optic (MOST), maintaining the original quality, without going through AUX/AMI?
In other words, is AUX/AMI only used when I actually use Android, and the rest of the system keeps the original digital connection?
Please confirm in detail so I know exactly what to expect in terms of audio quality.
A:
Yes, the audio from our Mercedes-Benz NTG4.0, NTG4.5, and NTG4.7 Android devices is transmitted through the original AUX or AMI port to the original CD player, where it is amplified by the original CD player’s amplifier.
Because we retain all original functionality, when you return to the original Mercedes-Benz menu (FM radio, CD player, factory Bluetooth, USB/PEN port, etc.), the audio is still transmitted digitally via optical fiber (MOST), maintaining the original sound quality without going through AUX/AMI.
It’s important to emphasize that if your car has optical fiber, you must switch to optical fiber; otherwise, the audio from the Android device and the original CD player will not be heard.
