Some customers have purchased UGODE’s Audi Android screens and Linux screens featuring wireless CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Since the CAN protocol for many Audi models must be sourced from the climate control panel or gateway, many installers struggle to locate the appropriate interface during installation.
1.The air conditioning panel is located beneath the original CD head unit. Upon removal, you will find the adapter cable. For the 2009-2016 Audi A4/A5/Q5 base models and the 2012-2015 A6/A7 models, the CAN-under cable for the air conditioning panel is 20-pin. All other models feature a 16-pin connector.

2.For some Audi models, the CAN protocol must be accessed via the gateway. The gateway interface is located inside the passenger-side glove compartment, requiring removal of the compartment to access it. On a very small number of models, the gateway is positioned above the driver’s footwell, requiring removal of the trim panel to access it.
The cable connector for the gateway is typically a red 20-pin connector. On a very small number of models, it is not red.
